How to Ask for Reviews

3 min read

These days, asking for a review from customers is more common than not.

How many stores have sent you emails about reviewing their products? How many businesses have followed up about leaving a review after completing a service?

It’s now a part of the whole customer experience, so here are a few things that can help you become more comfortable and confident in asking your clients for a review.

Mainstreethost Review Links #

Below are a few of the links you can share that will lead your client right to Mainstreethost’s profile on each platform:

  • Google
  • Trustpilot
  • BBB
  • Clutch
  • Yelp

You can also share this Mainstreethost Review Link that gives your clients a couple different platforms to choose from.

When to Ask For a Review #

There are plenty of ways to approach asking your client for a review. And there’s no one specific time that is right to ask.

When you have a close working relationship, it’s sometimes as easy as mentioning it on a call:

“It was so nice chatting with you today! I’m going to send you an email as soon as we get off the phone with a link to our Google Business Profile. If you feel like leaving a quick review, that would be great! Any feedback is always appreciated. Have a good one!”

And other times, it’s about hitting their inbox at the right time. (See template below.)

Here are some examples of when you could follow-up about leaving a review:

  • You had a great phone call with the client
  • You just launched the client’s new website
  • You’re seeing success with a PPC or social media ad campaign
  • You sent their final report
  • The client chose to renew their services
  • The client sent their praises in an email

Email Template #

We created a template you can utilize when reaching out—just copy and paste the email below into Outlook!

And feel free to personalize it. For example, if you just launched your client’s new website, you could start the email with, “It was awesome getting to work with you on your new website!”

Quick Tips #

  • Always provide direct links to make the process super easy and accessible.
  • Personalize your outreach and tailor your message to your client.
  • Don’t be afraid to follow up with a gentle reminder.
  • Never ask for a specific kind of feedback, e.g. “Leave me a 5-star review!” “Let us know your positive feedback.”
